The picture I did on the stream last night! Was a lot of fun even though cat kept attacking the camera hahahfdg.
I have to confess though, I've never had as much trouble with colouring a picture. Or it wasn't really difficult, but I just couldn't decide the colours and tried so many things and either liked all of them or disliked them. Originally it was all orange, then I added some blue but it ended up looking like purple again and then I wanted to make it greenish/orange with cold shadows and warm light source and to make the orange monarch butterflies really pop.
I always seem to go for purple so was trying to break away from that and using it too much/relying on it. Even one of my teachers say I use a lot of purple and I didn't even notice it fully until she said it : D
If there's any purple in this piece it's not intentional, I didn't use the colour but some layers with different effects might have created that.
Oh well I tried! XD trying to stay away from purple for a while anyway. Also tried to make it look like it could be coloured in watercolour etc.
This is kind of a remake of a really old picture of mine I did when I was 15, some might remember it if you watched my previous account. been 7 years oh my....
The title comes from the nickname of the monarch butterfly, thought it was fitting for this piece
Drawn in pencil, coloured in Photoshop.
Putting this in the Traditional artwork category as most of the time I spent on this was traditional media (maybe about 6 hours) and the digital colouring took a lot less time than that. I remember reading that as a rule of thumb the part that took longer should be the category, but it's difficult when you combine both.
