BIG FILE!

I originally wanted to make a video of this but never did so thought I could make it a tutorial like this.
Something I've been asked about earlier and thought I'd share it :) I always enjoy doing this part in my pictures!

Not much to say about it though here, but let me know if you have any questions or if anything's unclear. Wrote the texts pretty quickly so it might have some derps but hopefully not haha!

It works at least in photoshop, but it should work in any other programs that have a Gaussian Blur... thing or something similar at least.

Hope you like it!! :)

characters used in this are (c) to their owners!

edit: added some little things!

That is SO useful! I had trouble with various drawings where the character would simply stand out too much. I hope that will help me to finally deal with this problem :)
Thanks a lot for posting this!

From the looks of it, it should, as long as you use the color you want the glow to be (and it's still from the background). Of course you'll have to pay attention from where the light bounces from, etc.

In short, yes.

Actually, I was wondering, will adding this extra lighting source also give the line art that "glow" for example, this picture you did here: :thumb357062870: is outlined in a beautiful glow, if I follow this tutorial will I to get this effect on my pictures?

Thank you for this tutorial, and your beautiful photos

Ah yea, another thing I might do (and did in that pic) is simply duplicate the lineart layer ad use gaussian blur on the new layer that's on top. And erase the blurred lineart where the character's eyes and other details on the face are (just to make those areas look sharper). Then on that picture too I just made a new layer on the Soft Light setting on top of everything and drew there around the character with a big soft, round brush :)

so it depends on the picture a bit but the thing I do in this tutorial is what I normally do in every lineart picture in any case, and then if needed add extra things like I mentioned above. x3
