The Fox Fire

Fox fire; A northern European folk term for the Aurora Borealis. In Finland we call them "revontulet", literally fox's fires. It's based on an old folk lore where the fox creates the northern lights with its tail.

Once again, something I've wanted to draw for ages, possibly for years but been waiting for the right idea on how to do it. And last night I started scribbling it and just kept drawing and drawing and... got it finished today! Really enjoyed drawing this and been wanting to paint a starscape too

took around 8 hours I think, drawn in photoshop
and tried lots of new things with layers/lights/shadows again. I can't seem to stop experimenting with every piece haha but guess that's not a bad thing anyway X)
