Been a long time since I did something as extensive as this, haven't done a full bg with foliage and other elements in a while :D got it mostly done in the streams but did the final adjustments now so it's all good for uploading.
Tried to something a bit more illustrative than just a 'character posing in the middle of the picture' this time, I feel like I've been a bit stuck with my works lately so trying out some things. Most of them shall stay in my sketchbook for now though haha.

Anyway hope you like it :) and rest assured, the fox is not after a ducky snack! ...unlike some of you in the stream! :eyes:

drawn in Photoshop, took quite a few days to do.

print to follow soon!

edit: last minute change! Flipped the picture. I think it flows better this way.

I really like the splotches of light on the leaves, the smooth surface of the water, and the overall depth and perspective of this picture's background. And that fluffy fox tail, not to mention the fur shading.

i can't tell you how much i love this! all your artwork is just amazing!
i got a question: do you teach yourself how to draw like this, or do you take an art course or something like that?
it looks so realistic and amazing! the colours are chosen perfect!

could you give me a little tip about making fur look realistic? i really want to draw realism pictures too, but when i try to draw fur it looks .... idk, just ugly.

whatever, there's nothing i could complain about, i think all your pictures couldn't be better!
you're one of my idols (:

About realism; just make sure to look at a lot of references and study how light and colours work in general, both in real life and also from photography. :) if you're aiming for realism it's good to study the things you want to portray, such as how fur 'works' and why does it look like the way it looks like; try "thinking 3D" if that makes any sense XD why does it look different in the neck and legs etc.

so mostly what I've learned is self learned by doing the stuff above and also reading some books and tutorials about the topic as a support. Fur is a difficult one yeah, but I rather enjoy doing it (especially longer fur) cos it has lots of variety and different shapes and lengths.

dunno if that made any sense ;_; XD but good luck!
